Top Math Internships
The final post of our “Top STEM Internships” series covers mathematics-focused internships! These internships are great for anyone who likes to work with numbers or can see themselves working in a setting involving lots of math. These internships can open the door to working for large corporations such as Allstate, Microsoft, and even Marvel Entertainment!
1. Marvel Entertainment Digital Marketing Intern
Though this internship might at first appeal to comic book fans, the Marvel’s Digital Marketing Internship is open to college Juniors or Seniors studying in the math-related majors of Economics and Data Analytics. Researching ideas and working on new marketing campaigns are just some of the tasks that the intern will have at this job. Imagine working here!
2. Allstate Insurance Internships
Allstate’s internships are perfect for anyone who wants to work in insurance or math-related fields with plenty of opportunity and growth. Internships are available for students majoring in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Project Management, Information Technology, Statistics, Finance, or Communications. A great way to get a foot into the insurance world, while learning math skills that will transfer to any business!
3. State Farm Actuarial Internship
The State Farm Actuarial Internship is a summer internship that helps students familiarize themselves with actuarial work. The internship takes place in State Farm’s Bloomington, IL headquarters. The internship is open only to students majoring in Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science. Students must also have strong communication, analytical and computer skills. This is a paid internship that will lead to many new connections in math-related jobs.
4. Fannie Mae Summer Internships
Fannie Mae offers multiple math internships as part of their summer internship program. Interns can learn skills such as financial analysis, risk assessment, economic research, and financial reporting. Interns also get to meet the CEO of Fannie Mae, and the company often hires interns from this program for full time positions. Interns gain hands-on experience in an area related to their major, and work alongside full-time employees as a contributing member of the team.
5. Microsoft Business Internships
Microsoft’s Business Internships are a group of internships open to both undergraduate and graduate students. There are internships in the Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Marketing, Sales, and Content Publishing departments. These internships provide plenty of opportunities for both mathematicians and non-mathematicians alike!
