Our License to You
Subject to these Terms and our policies (including the Privacy terms), we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to use our Services. You may download free content from our Services only for your personal, non-commercial use. All content on this website is copyrighted by Career In STEM. You must obtain Career In STEM ‘s written permission to use the content beyond a personal manner (ex: embedding certain pages of the Career In STEM website, posting our downloadable resources on your website, etc.). Except with our express prior written permission or as permitted by applicable laws, you may not copy, distribute, reproduce, mirror, frame, publicly display, publicly perform, translate, create derivative works of, re-publish or transmit the Websites or Content (in whole or in part) in any way or through any medium for distribution, publication or any commercial purpose. Using our Services does not give you ownership of any intellectual property rights in our Services or the content you access. All rights, including copyrights, are reserved by Career In STEM.
Who May Use our Services
You must be 18 years or older to create a Career In STEM account. You may use our Services only in compliance with these Terms and all applicable laws. When you create your Career In STEM account, and when you use certain features, you must provide us with accurate and complete information, and you agree to update your information to keep it accurate and complete. Any use or access by anyone other than the person who owns the account is prohibited.
The Website may contain comments sections, chat box, discussion forums, or other interactive features (“Interactive Areas”) in which you may post or upload user-generated content, comments, video, photos, messages, email address, other materials or items (collectively, “User Content”). You are solely responsible for your use of any Interactive Areas and you use them at your own risk. By submitting User Content to an Interactive Area, you represent that you are 13 years of age or older and, if you are under the age of 18, you either are an emancipated minor or have obtained the legal consent of your parent or legal guardian to enter into these Terms, submit content, and participate on the Websites. By submitting any User Content or participating in an Interactive Area within or in connection with the Websites, you agree that Career In STEM can contact you via the email address provided. You also agree that you will not upload, post or otherwise transmit any User Content that (a) violates or infringes in any way upon the rights of others. Any conduct that we, in our sole discretion, believe restricts or inhibits anyone else from using or enjoying the Websites will not be permitted. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to remove or edit User Content submitted by you. Career In STEM reserves the right to delete any account that has been inactive for six months or more.
Career In STEM offers paid Services (e.g., downloadable lessons, Explorer, and others) for a fee. Unless otherwise stated, all fees are quoted in U.S. Dollars. You are responsible for paying all fees and applicable taxes in a timely manner with a payment mechanism associated with the applicable paid Services. You must be 18 years or older to make a purchase. If your payment method fails or your account is past due, we may collect fees using other collection mechanisms. Fees may vary based on your location and other factors, and Career In STEM reserves the right to change any fees at any time at its sole discretion. Any change, update, or modification will be effective immediately upon posting through the relevant Services.
When you purchase a subscription to our Service such as the Explorer, you are granted annual or lifetime access to the platform for the duration of its existence according to the plan you purchase. Lifetime access means that as long as the Service is available, you will have access to it without the need for any additional payments. You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful or prohibited purpose, including, but not limited to, violating any applicable laws or regulations. You agree not to engage in any activity that disrupts or interferes with the proper functioning of the Service. You agree not to attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion or feature of the Service, or any other systems or networks connected to the Service. In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, consequential, special, incidental, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of your use of the Service.
The nature of work is constantly changing, and thus we reserve the right to modify any website content, products, and/or services at any time without notice. Career In STEM reserves the right to cancel, interrupt, or modify, or reschedule any content. Career In STEM maintains all copyrights as described above. The Explorer tool and subscribers are subject to the Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability sections below.

The Services enable you to share your content, such as photos, projects, and other assignments you submit, posts you make in the forums, and the like (“User Content”), with Career In STEM, instructors, and/or other users. You retain all intellectual property rights in, and are responsible for, the User Content you share.
How Career In STEM and Others May Use User Content
To the extent that you provide User Content, complete our free activities such as the Career Scavenger Hunt, and the like you grant Career In STEM a fully-transferable, royalty-free, perpetual, sublicensable, non-exclusive, worldwide license to copy, distribute, modify, create derivative works based on, publicly perform, publicly display, and otherwise use the User Content. We reserve the right to remove or modify User Content for any reason, including User Content that we believe violates these Terms. Career In STEM regularly conducts and contributes to the existing body of educational research, which may include any content you provide such as quotes, screenshots, images, scavenger hunt answers/data, work samples, and any other content. No personally identifiable information will be disclosed within such educational research projects and will only be used to share program outcomes.
We welcome your suggestions, ideas, comments, and other feedback regarding the Services (“Feedback”). By submitting any Feedback, you grant us the right to use the Feedback without any restriction or any compensation to you.
We care about the security of our users. While we work to protect the security of your account and related information, Career In STEM cannot guarantee that unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security measures. Please notify us immediately of any compromise or unauthorized use of your account by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Third Party Content
Through the Services, you will have the ability to access and/or use content provided by instructors, other users, and/or other third parties and links to websites and services maintained by third parties. Career In STEM cannot guarantee that such third party content, in the Services or elsewhere, will be free of material you may find objectionable or otherwise inappropriate or of malware or other contaminants that may harm your computer, mobile device, or any files therein. Career In STEM disclaims any responsibility or liability related to your access or use of such third party content.
Copyright and Trademark Policy
Career In STEM respects the intellectual property rights of our users, participating institutions, and other third parties and expects our users to do the same when using the Services. We have adopted and implemented the Career In STEM Copyright and Trademark Policy in accordance with applicable law, including the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Modifying and Terminating our Services
We are constantly changing and improving our Services. We may add or remove functions, features, or requirements, and we may suspend or stop a Service altogether without notice. Accordingly, Career In STEM may terminate your use of any Service at any time for any reason. If your use of a paid Service is terminated, a refund may be available under our Refund Policy. None of Career In STEM, its participating institutions and instructors, its contributors, sponsors, and other business partners, and their employees, contractors, and other agents (the ” Career In STEM Parties”) shall have any liability to you for any such action. You can stop using our Services at any time, although we’ll be sorry to see you go.
In partnership Service arrangements (ex: embedded content, Explorer subscriptions) you will be billed once per year at the agreed upon rate via PayPal, check, or Purchase Order. Payment is due in full within 30 days of invoice receipt. You may cancel the Service at any time with written notice. Your Service will be terminated at the end of your subscription period (ex: your custom Explorer page will be removed on the expiration date should you choose not to renew). No refunds will be issued for unused months/time.
THE SERVICES AND ALL INCLUDED CONTENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. THE CAREER IN STEM PARTIES SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES AND CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING OUT OF COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE. THE CAREER IN STEM PARTIES FURTHER DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL LIABILITY RELATED TO YOUR ACCESS OR USE OF THE SERVICES OR ANY RELATED CONTENT. YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT ANY ACCESS TO OR USE OF THE SERVICES OR SUCH CONTENT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Career In STEM Parties from any and all claims, liabilities, expenses, and damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs, made by any third party related to: (a) your use or attempted use of the Services in violation of these Terms; (b) your violation of any law or rights of any third party; or (c) User Content, including without limitation any claim of infringement or misappropriation of intellectual property or other proprietary rights.
