VIRTUAL JOB SHADOW
Welcome to your first day on the job! Watch this video to see a day in the life of a Zoning Officer.
STEP 1: Download and print out this Property Condition Checklist from the TN Housing Development Agency.
STEP 2: Put your home or apartment to the test! Go through each item on the checklist and see how your residence scores. Not sure what something on the list means? Google it! (these are all things a real zoning officer needs to know)
STEP 3: Once your inspection is complete, imagine you are a Zoning Officer and write a report to the homeowner (your parents or landlord!). Explain what they are doing well and what needs to be improved. Use specific evidence from your inspection and real zoning codes from your community (can be found on your town’s website) in your report.
STEP 4: Post your zoning officer report in our Student Showcase to build your resume!
