How does a remote sensing specialist connect to sledding? How could a quantitative psychologist help the Grinch? and MORE! In this Winter STEM Career Exploration Webquest & DIY STEM Project teenage students will explore 15 cool STEM careers, and make connections to favorite winter traditions and pastimes (ugly sweaters, hot coco, etc.). Students will then apply what they have learned to create their own DIY Winter STEM project!
Students will begin Part 1 with STEM career exploration. Using interactive online resources students will find summaries, salary, and education requirements for a diverse array of 15 cool STEM careers. In Part 2 students will get creative as they connect these careers to winter traditions. In part two students apply everything they have learned in an open-ended inquiry based DIY Winter STEM project designed to help students test drive a day in the life of one of the careers they researched in part 1 (ex: work as a fashion designer to design the world’s ugliest sweater!). Like a cookie swap, students then do a project swap to share in Part 3. Appropriate for middle and high school students, taking a minimum of 2 hours to complete. Purchase includes:
