VIRTUAL JOB SHADOW
Welcome to your first day on the job! Watch this video to see what a day in the life of a Pilot is like.
STEP 1: The first step towards your Pilot License is to book something called a ‘discovery flight’, where you go up with a pilot and even get to operate the plane! EEA offers FREE discovery flights – click here to find an upcoming event near you and book your discovery flight!
STEP 2: In the meantime, you can start building your skills as a pilot using GeoFS, a free open-source flight simulator that works in any browser. Click here to go to GeoFS.
STEP 3: Click the black ‘instructions’ button at the top of the page to learn how to use the software. Then click the blue ‘fly!’ button at the top to get started!
STEP 4: To start, set it to ‘autopilot’ by clicking the green ‘autopilot’ button. Then practice reading and adjusting the gauges. When you get the hang of it, turn off autopilot mode and try to take off successfully on your own! Optional: Share a video of your successful first flight in the Student Showcase to build your resume as a pilot!
