VIRTUAL JOB SHADOW
Welcome to your first day on the job! Watch this video to see what a day in the life of a Personal Chef is like.
STEP 1: You have $100 to prepare a days’ meals – breakfast, lunch, and dinner – for your celebrity client. Choose a real person to be your client and imagine they are a celebrity!
STEP 2: Interview your client to find out everything you need to know to make three amazing meals for them – allergies, dietary restrictions, food preferences, disliked foods, etc.
STEP 3: Based on your client’s needs and preferences, choose what you will make for all three meals. What will you cook them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?
STEP 4: Next, create a simple spreadsheet listing all the ingredients you need to make these three meals. Look up what these ingredients cost online (or take a field trip to the local grocery store!) and record the prices on your spreadsheet.
STEP 5: Add up the cost of everything on your list. Did you meet your client’s budget of $100? If not, what ingredients would you take out or substitute? If yes, prepare a menu (by hand, or Canva has lots of free templates) and give it to your ‘client’ for feedback. Do they like your meals? Does it meet their needs and preferences?
STEP 6: Make any changes recommended by your client. Then share your menu in the Student Showcase to build your resume as a personal chef! And of course prepare & eat the meals if you can!
