As you learned, demographers use statistics to study people. A great place to study a whole bunch of people is social media! Here is a fun Social Media Demographics Activity to try:
STEP 1: Choose one demographic that you want to research. (Need some ideas? Use this list of demographics.)
STEP 2: With your parents’ permission, open your favorite social media platform (Instagram, Facebook, etc.) if you have one, or get an adult to help you.
STEP 3: Go through your entire friends/followers list and categorize each person according to the demographic you chose. (Example: Ava chose the demographic of age. She then sorts all her followers into age groups – under 10, 11-20, and over 20)
STEP 4: Analyze your results! What did you learn about the demographics of your social media followers/friends?
STEP 5: Pick a new demographic to research and try it again!
