If you have ever watched the hit TV show CSI, you know that fingerprinting is often the key to solving a crime because all humans have unique fingerprints. Do you know the types of fingerprint patterns? Give it a try!
STEP 1: Cut 4 pieces of translucent tape, each about 6 inches long.
STEP 2: Put the tape strips on a table, sticky side up.
STEP 3: Take your right hand, pull your fingers in close together, and press your fingerprints onto one of the tape strips.
STEP 4: Repeat for the left hand. Then repeat for your feet!
STEP 5: Use this fingerprint identification chart. What types of finger (and toe) prints do you have?
STEP 6: Repeat with members of your family. How are your fingerprints similar? How are they different?
Optional: Share a summary of your fingerprint findings in our Student Showcase to build your resume!
