Ready to try your own biostatistics project? As you know, biostaticians work with medical data to make predictions or represent trends in certain diseases. As you also know, COVID-19 has had a large impact on the United States and the world. Using data from the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center, answer the following biostatistics questions (you will have to do some basic math):
- What percent of global confirmed cases are in the United States? (hint: look at the numbers on the left side of the screen)
- How many more/ less cases did your home state have yesterday as compared to 12/30/20? (hint: find your state here)
- Go to “By Region” and select your state. What percent of people who have been tested have come back negative?
Navigate the website and come up with your own statistics based on the data. Now you’re a biostatistician! If you are looking to build your resume, share your findings report in the Student Showcase!
