Welcome to your first day on the job! Watch this video to see a day in the life of an Astrobiologist.
Step 1: Go to https://astrobiology.nasa.gov/research-locations/
Step 2: Find the astrobiology research location nearest you.
Step 3: Answer these questions: What are they researching? What have they found so far? Why does it matter?
Step 4: Then get involved! Write an email to the program director to…
- commend them for their work (use what you wrote in step 3)
- ask how YOU can get involved in their research (for example are there any citizen science projects? job shadow opportunities? internships?)
Step 5: Have an adult review your email to make sure it is as professional as possible.
Step 6: SEND!
Step 7: If you get a response, be sure to write back asap and ask for specific next steps. If you don’t get a response, don’t worry! Keep trying – persistence is key in any STEM career!
