VIRTUAL JOB SHADOW
Welcome to your first day on the job! Watch this video to see a day in the life of an Architectural Designer.
STEP 1: Watch this video for floorplan basics:
STEP 2: Pick a room in your home and figure out the overall shape. Is it a rectangle? A square? Lightly draw this shape on a piece of paper to show the walls.
STEP 3: Look at each wall to observe where there are openings for windows, doors, and walkways. Mark these openings on your sketch and erase those portions of the wall outline.
STEP 4: Use the correct blueprint symbols (shown in the video) to draw in the doors and windows. Thicken your wall lines to show they are solid.
STEP 5: Add furniture to your sketch! Make sure your plan works like a ‘map’, using proper symbols and correct locations in the room.
STEP 6: Share a picture of your architectural design by uploading it to the Student Showcase and build your resume as an Architectural Designer!
STEP 7: Challenge! Repeat this activity, but for your dream bedroom!
