When aerospace engineers want to create something new, they usually start by analyzing related things on a small scale. For example, balloons! Here’s how to get started as an aerospace engineer:
STEP 1: Get a balloon and blow it up.
STEP 2: Let it go!
STEP 3: Analyze – How does this relate to a rocket? Try to use these words: shuttle, thrust, force, velocity, Newton’s Laws, gravity
STEP 4: CHALLENGE
- Why doesn’t the balloon (and rockets) keep going forever into the universe?
- If this were a real rocket, where would it go? How could you make this prediction?
STEP 5: Write a summary or post a picture of a labeled diagram in the Student Showcase to build your resume as an Aerospace Engineer!
